First Aid and Resuscitation Training


The Quality Training Partnership and West Yorkshire Medical Services can provide statutory, paediatric and bespoke first aid and resuscitation training. Our training courses are designed to equip you with vital knowledge and skills to confidently deal with the initial stages of accidents, injuries and illnesses. Our training ethos is on practical, inclusive learning to ensure delegates are provided with the skills that could quite simply save lives!

All courses are delivered by highly qualified and experienced tutors who create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere that allows delegates to achieve learning outcomes at their own pace and develop confidence in these essential skills.

Programmes that may lead to Qualification Curriculum Framework (QCF) regulated awards are managed and awarded by the Awarding Organisation, Qualsafe Awards:

  • WYMS Award in CPR and AED Defibrillation

  • WYMS Award in Practice Based Resuscitation (PBR) for Clinicians
  • WYMS Award in Practice Based Resuscitation (PBR) for Admin Staff
  • WYMS Award in Outdoor Activity First Aid (Duke of Edinburgh)
  • WYMS Award in First Aid for New Parents

QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF)

A nationally recognised First Aid qualification with a validity of three years. This meets the recommendations of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and will help employers meet their statutory obligations.This course is for delegates who do not hold a current First Aid at Work certificate and the course is 18 hours duration (3 days).

QA Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF)

This one day course designed for small companies and employers whereby the risk assessment process has identified that a full First Aid at Work qualification is not required. The decision process takes into account; the number of employees and the type and likelihood of any injury that may occur. This course is delivered over six hours and has a validity period of three years.     

QA Level 3 Award In Paediatric First Aid (QCF)

This two day course meets OFSTED requirements for first aid training in early year’s settings and links to the common core skills of the early years foundation stage. The course is suitable for anyone providing care for children and babies. Candidates will learn essential practical and theoretical skills, so they can deal competently with situations that may arise when caring for children and babies.

WYMS Practice Based Resuscitation Courses - Clinicians / Admin

This is a two to three hour course aimed at GP and Dental practice staff to ensure that they competent to deliver basic and extended life support. The course includes the management of basic first aid, obtaining help and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation. 

For clinical staff (nurses, physiotherapists, dentists and doctors), the course goes on to train delegates in the use of the Automatic External Defibrillator and the management of anaphylaxis. The ethos of both these courses is practical skills and incident management.
